SMEGA's mission is to promote and support the retention and expansion of existing industrial businesses, to attract new businesses, and to encourage the diversification of the economic base in southwestern Michigan.
OBJECTIVES
- SMEGA will strengthen, retain, and assist in the expansion of existing businesses, particularly in the industrial sector, with emphasis on job retention and attraction.
- SMEGA will encourage a high-quality, healthy, pro-business climate through effective communications, organization, and planning activities among the participating municipalities, private enterprises, and public service providers.
- SMEGA will foster open communication with an active board and work with governmental agencies to establish clear methods for obtaining necessary governmental and inter-governmental approvals and cooperation contributing to a pro-business environment.
- SMEGA will promote entrepreneurial efforts in our communities by providing assistance to start-ups and business expansions to create new jobs in diverse markets.
