The ordinance/code enforcement department is responsible for the enforcement of property maintenance, blight control and noxious weeds, related laws, ordinances and standards.  The ordinance enforcement division officer (Jim Merriman) is available to take your complaints on the phone or in person at the general office, 320 Bell Road.

Procedure for ordinance complaints: 

  1. Phone our office (269-687-2741) or stop in (320 Bell Road) with the address of the violation within the Niles Charter Township community.
  2. An inspection will be scheduled and conducted by a Niles Charter Township Ordinance Enforcement Officer.   
  3. If violations exist a Notice of Violation may be issued with a re-inspection date for compliance scheduled.
  4. If during the re-inspection the violations still exist a ticket (civil infraction citation) may be issued and the violator will have to appear in court.
